Dr
Anne Söderlund is a Dean of Faculty at Mälardalen University and professor in
Physiotherapy with behavioural medicine profile at School of Health, Care and
Welfare, Mälardalen University, Västerås, Sweden. She is a leader of a
multidisciplinary research group (BeMe-Health) of about 20 junior and senior
researchers and has a large international research network. Her research
includes prevention, treatment, and evaluation of health problems from a
behavioural medicine perspective in the physiotherapy framework. Her research
is focused on the individual's behaviour and ability for functioning in
everyday life in various health conditions in different ages. Research, such as
studies in clinical reasoning focused on behaviour change, intervention studies
e.g. web-based stress management and health promotion by decreasing sedentary behaviour
in older people as well as studies of implementation of a behavioural medicine
approach in PTs’ clinical practice are her latest areas. Professor Söderlund’s
research in behavioural medicine within a PT framework is internationally
unique. She has 93 scientific peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters.
She is an Editor-in-Chief for the European Journal of Physiotherapy. She has
been teaching and supervising two decades on undergraduate and graduate levels
and presented her research in wide range of international conferences.
