Margaret E. (Maggie) O'Neil, PT, PhD, MPH - is a pediatric physical therapist researcher with extensive research and clinical experience. She is a professor in the Programs in Physical Therapy at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, NY, NY, USA. She has a record of research funding (e.g., NIH, DOE, APTA) to examine objective measures of physical activity (PA) in youth with cerebral palsy (CP) and to develop custom virtual reality (VR) interventions to promote fitness, mobility and PA. Maggie participates on interdisciplinary research teams to conduct this work. They have many publications on topics including PA measures and technology (wearable sensors) and rehabilitation interventions to promote PA for youth with CP. She presents several times a year to research and clinical audiences. She is co-editor and chapter author of the second edition of Dr. Freeman Miller's medical text: Cerebral Palsy. She is an active member of the APTA (Academy of Pediatric PT, Research Committee), the WCPT (International Organization of PT in Pediatrics (IOPTP), Research Committee) and the American Academy of CP and Developmental Medicine. She serves as a manuscript reviewer for many journals and is a grant reviewer for several federal and professional organizations.
