Sven Karstens is professor for physiotherapy at the Trier University of Applied Sciences, Germany. His research is in the field of musculoskeletal health and Health Services Research. As a physiotherapist, he has worked in a variety of roles and across various clinical and educational settings since qualification in 1999. He has a Bachelor of Health from the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, Netherlands and a Master of Science in Physiotherapy from the Faculty of Medicine, Philipps-University of Marburg, Germany. Mr Karstens completed his doctoral programme at the German Sport University Cologne on the subject of needs-orientated outpatient physiotherapy for patients with musculoskeletal complaints. He is a founding member of the German Society for Physiotherapy Science (DGPTW) and previously presented at WCPT-conferences in Geneva, Cape-Town, Singapore and Amsterdam.
