Jepkemoi Joanne Kibet earned her BSc and MSc in Physiotherapy at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. She is currently the Physiotherapist Trainer at the Center for Victims of Torture, Kenya. She previously worked as a physiotherapy lecturer in two Kenyan Universities (Moi University and Jomo Kenyatta University), where she and other members helped to develop the BSc programme. Kibet is a strong advocate for the growth of the physiotherapy profession in Eastern Africa which is evident by her leadership role in the formation of the East African Physiotherapy Association. She is also an active member of Kenya Society of Physiotherapy. She has presented papers nationally, regionally and internationally. Her most recent publication together with her colleagues at the Center for Victims of torture was contributing to a chapter in a book “Physiotherapy in Mental health and Psychiatry: A scientific and clinical based approach.” Kibet is currently a PhD student at the Physiotherapy Department, University of the Western Cape. Kibet has worked with her colleagues to develop a Trauma-Focused Physiotherapy Model for the Center for Victims of Torture. Her area of interest is treatment of chronic pain in survivors of torture and trauma.
