Lou James (MNZM) received her Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy from the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand in 1997. She has dedicated the last 16 years to oncology rehabilitation and has been teaching Physiotherapists in oncology rehabilitation since 2008. Lou is the Founder and CEO of PINC & STEEL International and is responsible for the introduction of the PINC & STEEL, Next Steps, and PaddleOn Cancer Rehabilitation Programs, which focus on the physical and mental wellbeing of people affected by cancer. The programs are now available in 18 counties and support thousands of people each year. Lou works with charitable organisations, insurance companies, and researchers to improve the implementation of oncology rehabilitation services. Lou has been recognised for her pioneering work in this field, being appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the Queens New Years Honours List in 2017 for services to people with cancer.
