Dr Nicole Lowres is senior Research Fellow and clinical physiotherapist. She has 25+ years clinical experience as a physiotherapist in cardiorespiratory secondary prevention, during which time she received 2 New South Wales (NSW) Health Innovation Awards for development of innovative models to deliver physiotherapy care. Dr Lowres is actively involved with promoting an increased role for health professionals in CVD care and prevention. She recently served as the scientific chair of the 2019 Australian Cardiovascular Association annual conference. Dr Lowres currently holds a NSW Health Early Career Fellowship as a senior Research Fellow, Heart Research Institute, University of Sydney. Her postdoctoral research focuses on secondary prevention of cardiac disease, with focus on e-Health tools to improve health delivery, such novel screening tools, electronic decision support, and machine learning. Dr Lowres research has been translated widely into new CVD screening, education and management programs by national and global organisations (UK, China, Vietnam, Taiwan). Her publications are cited in Australian guidelines; 2016 European Society of Cardiology guidelines; 2017 AF-SCREEN White Paper; 2017 European Heart Rhythm Association AF screening Consensus Document; and 2015 AF Network/European Heart Rhythm Association roadmap for AF management.
