Ms. Smriti Suwal is a physiotherapist by profession and currently works as health and rehabilitation technical advisor for Handicap International, Nepal. Ms. Suwal holds a Bachelor in Physiotherapy and is trained in Pelvic Health Physical Therapy from the USA supported by Global Women’s Health Initiative USA. She holds more than 10 years of experience working in synergy with health system especially in expanding the coverage of rehabilitation, promoting the financial access and imparting the sense of rehabilitation ownership to the government stakeholders. In her current role with Handicap International, she has been involved working in close coordination with Ministry of Health and Population, Nepal in providing technical support to develop national level strategies and policies related to disability and rehabilitation. She also holds a special interest in promoting rehabilitation on various spares of health through advocacy and capacity building of health professionals and has experience presenting in many national and international conferences. As a sub treasurer of Nepal Physiotherapy Association (NEPTA) she is actively engaged in strengthening physiotherapy sector into the health system.
