Doris Y Mbuyu is a Physiotherapist based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She qualified as a Physiotherapist at the Higher Institute of Health Sciences in Kinshasa in October 1989.
She initially worked in the fields of Orthopaedics, Medicine and Surgery until 1995 to focus on Paediatrics. Her work experience includes Chief Physiotherapist at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and Frances Vorwerg School. Her experience also includes rural outreaches with Malamulele Onward.
She has a special interest in home therapy for children with cerebral palsy.
She currently works as a Physiotherapist at a private practice in Johannesburg South, seeing mainly children and adolescents with Cerebral Palsy and other neurological conditions.
She completed her first Pediatric NDT course in 1998 and her Physiotherapy NDT tutor training in 2009. She has presented on several NDT Foundation courses, Introductory courses on the assessment and management of children with CP in Africa and Middle East. She has assisted on two NDT baby courses (Lois Bly, Gay Girolami).
