Dr MacDonald completed his Doctoral Training in Physical Therapy in the United States following completion of training as a Physiotherapist in Australia. He is currently a PhD candidate with the University of Newcastle in Australia, with a research focus to the history of manual and manipulative therapy emphasizing European Heritage and influences in practice development in North America. He is an Associate Professor at for Regis University in the School of Physical Therapy in Denver, Colorado. Dr MacDonald has presented on the history of physiotherapy, with a focus to manual therapy and the societal role of physiotherapists at multiple conferences internationally. He has published on the genesis of manual therapy on multiple occasions with ongoing work in this area. He is currently the President of the Colorado Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association. He has additionally presented over 100 posters/platforms and papers at conferences, provided a general session presentation on manipulative history within physiotherapy at the AAOMPT conference, and is on the executive of the International Physiotherapy History Association. As a clinician, Dr MacDonald has 25 years of clinical practice experience and is a Board Specialist in Orthopaedics and Geriatrics and a Fellows of AAOMPT.
