Meg Lowry is a rehab clinician with a passion for gerontology and neurological rehabilitation. She completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at University of Queensland in 2007. Meg worked for 7 years in public hospitals and community rehabilitation services before establishing her own private home visiting practice in 2014. Meg is known for having developed the Clock Yourself app and Balance Yourself books, which were launched at WCPT in Cape Town and are now used worldwide in clinical practice and in research.
In 2019 Meg was diagnosed with Myxoid Liposarcoma in her left gluteus maximus requiring a radical resection of her gluteal compartment (buttockectomy). Meg's last two years have been spent undergoing oncology treatment and orthopaedic rehabilitation. She has not yet returned to clinical practice. Meg is passionate about increasing the physiotherapy profession's awareness of sarcoma to promote early detection of sarcoma and improve standards of care for sarcoma survivors.
