Dr. Casey Nesbit received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University, her Master of Science and Doctor of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Marymount University. She is an American Physical Therapy Association Board Certified Pediatric Clinical Specialist with 37 years of experience. She has worked part time over the past 15 years in Malawi at St. Gabriel’s Hospital and at the College of Medicine School of Physiotherapy. Her research interests include adolescent obesity, clinical reasoning, applied ethics, professionalism and effectiveness of training programs for community health workers. In addition, Dr. Nesbit has been part of a multi-center research study assessing societal perceptions of quality of life with disability in India, Haiti, Peru and Vietnam. Her recent publications are in peer reviewed journals including the International Journal of Health Promotion and Education, Journal of Child Neurology and Physiotherapy Theory and Practice. She has been on faculty for the past 9 years, currently at the University of California San Francisco/San Francisco State University Graduate Program in Physical Therapy.
