Mark Elkins is the Scientific Editor of the Journal of Physiotherapy and a co-director of the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (www.PEDro.org.au) of high quality research in physiotherapy. He is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney, with research interests in physical and pharmacological therapies in respiratory disease, co-ordinating these therapies to maximise the overall effect, and improvements in the quality of physiotherapy trials and reviews. He is also a research mentor to clinicians across 5 hospitals conducting research in the Sydney Local Health District. He has an extensive publication record, including papers in New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. Currently, he is the chair of the International Society of Physiotherapy Journal Editors. He has made numerous presentations at national and international conferences, including WCPT Congresses, European Respiratory Society International Congresses, European Cystic Fibrosis Conferences, and North American Cystic Fibrosis Conferences.
